#1Trump Rallies North Carolina as Midterms Hit 14-Day Mark

President Trump campaigned in Greenville for Republican Senate candidate Michael Whatley with two weeks left before the November 3 vote, in a race both parties see as decisive for Senate control. Georgia has now blown past one million in-person early votes, up roughly 12 percent from the same point in 2022, and the RNC is crediting Trump's rally schedule for the surge. Vice President Vance also made news, saying he isn't sure Trump would endorse him "right out the gate" in a 2028 run.

#2Bond Market Is Doing Warsh's Tightening For Him

Kevin Warsh's Fed raised its target to 3.75 to 4 percent last month, and traders who once expected an October hike have now slid their bets to December after a run of stronger data. Inflation has sat above the 2 percent target for more than 60 straight months, and the New York Fed's consumer survey shows one-year expectations at 3.9 percent, the highest since May 2023. Meanwhile the Atlanta Fed pegs third-quarter growth near 3.6 percent, which is the awkward part of the puzzle.

#3USDA Recalls Over 1.5 Million Pounds of Meat

Massachusetts-based Kayem Foods is recalling roughly 1,584,361 pounds of poultry and meat products over potential storage-temperature failures. The USDA announced the nationwide action today, and consumers are being told to check labels before anything hits the grill.

#4Amazon to Hire 300,000 US Workers for the Holidays

Amazon said today it will bring on 300,000 seasonal, part-time, and full-time workers for the Christmas rush, a 20 percent jump over last year. It's a notable vote of confidence in consumer spending at a moment when the labor data has been sending mixed signals.

#5Iran and Russia Draw Closer as Nuclear Standoff Hardens

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran and Moscow have "never worked as closely" as they do now, with talks covering expanded economic and nuclear cooperation. Trump said military strikes alone aren't enough unless the US can guarantee Iran won't build a weapon in five, six, or ten years, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio compared Iran's attacks on commercial shipping to "Nazi U-boat tactics." Iran's security chief insists "not a single gram" of enriched uranium leaves the country, and the White House has ruled out any strike before the midterms.

#6France Jails 149 as Paris Curfew Holds and a Second Weekend Looms

Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin said 149 people have been jailed after the weekend riots, with about 2,500 arrested and more than 800 sent before prosecutors. Morningstar puts the damage above one billion dollars with at least 3,000 businesses hit, a far-left activist was arrested over the arson that collapsed the roof of Limoges' 19th-century city hall, and the US Embassy has issued a security alert for Americans in Paris. France will deploy military units to back up police ahead of new marches planned Saturday and Sunday.

#7China Shadows US Warship as Taiwan Confronts Coast Guard Ship

The USS Charleston sailed near Sabina Shoal in the disputed Spratly Islands early Tuesday, prompting Chinese naval vessels to track and monitor it. Separately, Taiwan dispatched the patrol ship Taichung after Chinese Coast Guard vessel 3102 approached the Pratas Islands with its transponder switched off, entering restricted waters around 8 a.m.

#8NASA Chief Says Agency Has Filmed Objects It Can't Explain

Administrator Jared Isaacman confirmed NASA holds imagery of objects it cannot account for, stopping short of calling it proof of alien life but saying he's confident humanity will conclude life exists elsewhere. Newly surfaced records include 2023 infrared footage of an F-16 downing a diamond-shaped object over Lake Huron plus Apollo- and Gemini-era astronaut accounts, and Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb has been tapped to chair a new White House UAP advisory council.

#9Ancient DNA Rewrites When Humans First Reached America

A new review of genetic and archaeological evidence narrows the first human arrival in the Americas to between 14,000 and 20,000 years ago, undercutting the long-dominant "Clovis First" model. The work is out online ahead of the December issue of Current Opinion in Genetics and Development.

#10Tourist Convicted After Stealing a Flamingo in Las Vegas

Canadian tourist Mitchell Fairbarn was found guilty of animal cruelty after grabbing a flamingo from the wildlife habitat at the Flamingo Las Vegas around 5 a.m. and hauling it up to his 14th-floor room. Surveillance video caught the whole elevator ride, bird included, and the flamingo was injured in the ordeal.
